From 1928 Rolls Royce to 1965 Cadillac: Vintage car rally takes over Delhi streets

A fleet of vintage cars took over the streets of Delhi to participate in the annual vintage car rally from Major Dhyanchand Stadium near India Gate to Delhi Gymkhana Club, near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence

Some vintage Rolls Royce luxury cars were among the oldest at the rally. The oldest car was a 1928 Rolls Royce Phantom I. It belongs to Delhi’s Gurpreet Singh, who procured it in the early 90s from Maharaja of Bhavnagar

One of the 'newest' vintage cars was a 1965 Cadillac in mauve shade. Owned by Gurgaon-based construction entrepreneur Parmeet Bhalla, the Cadillac was imported into India by the Embassy of Cambodia in 1965. Since then it changed hands a few times before Parmeet Bhalla purchased it in 2009

“I have always been fascinated with vintage cars, especially the Cadillac. This was in bad shape when I acquired it. I had to restore it completely. Now you can order parts on Amazon globally and have them shipped to India so it is easier to restore vintage cars as compared to previously,” said Parmeet Bhalla

Another vintage car at Delhi’s rally was a 1939 Rolls Royce owned by Gurgaon-based Harsh Wardhan Bhatnagar, who retired from BHEL in 2005. The 1939 Rolls Royce was imported from the US and completely restored by Bhatnagar who is passionate about vintage cars. He owned 35 vintage cars at one point in time
